Florida Keys Bonefish Fishing
Season: May – Sep
This species was built for the flats. Bonefish in the Florida Keys are found in 5-12 inches of water feeding on small crabs, shrimp and baitfish, named the “ghost” of the flats because of there tendency to appear and disappear so quickly.Florida Keys bonefish are some of the largest in the world with the average fish being 7-9lbs and double digit fish often spotted. Bonefish come on the flats during a low incoming tide to feed where they can be seen tailing and as the tide rises you can spot the puffs of mud where they are rooting around for food. Fly Fishing for bonefish will test the strength of any equipment.
